Valley Of The Queens


The Valley of the Queens, known in Arabic as Wādī al-Malekāt, is an archaeological site in Egypt where the wives of pharaohs were buried in ancient times. It was called Ta-Set-Neferu, meaning "the place of beauty"[1]. The site is located on the western bank of the Nile in Upper Egypt, near ancient Thebes. It served as the burial ground for queens and some royal children of the 19th and 20th dynasties (1292–1075 BC).

The Valley of the Queens is famous for its necropolis, which contains over 90 tombs, including the tomb of Queen Nefertari, known for its exquisite decorations and considered one of the most beautiful tombs in Egypt. The tombs in the valley display intricate paintings, hieroglyphs, and scenes from Egyptian mythology, providing insights into the beliefs and customs of the time.
