Serapeum of Alexandria

Serapeum of Alexandria

The Serapeum of Alexandria was an ancient Greek temple built in the Ptolemaic Kingdom by Ptolemy III Euergetes and dedicated to Serapis, who was the protector of Alexandria, Egypt. Considered the "daughter of the Library of Alexandria," the Serapeum was also associated with the worship of Harpocrates. The temple existed until the end of the fourth century AD.

The Serapeum of Alexandria is known for its historical significance and architectural grandeur. However, the site has been heavily plundered over the years.
